Topic

The theme of the Biliteracy: Processes, Methodologies and Fields school is the study of second language reading and writing processes, the development of orthographic, morphological and phonological knowledge involved in these processes and the role of writing systems in their appropriation.

The objective of the school is to equip researchers to think about the bimodal dimension of the process of acquiring a second language, learning not only the spoken language but also the written language, through reading and writing activities.

Work on the language behavior of multilingual individuals in writing raises theoretical issues in that it allows us to better understand multilingual cognition and to build models of language development that take into account this dual exposure to spoken and written language. This work is also of social interest in that it allows us to understand the language activities of multilingual children, adolescents and adults in a situation of exposure to a new written language in order to accompany them in this process.
